Our Judge, the cartoonist Mac, was full of praise for the overall quality of the entries but was above all looking for fun and interesting ideas! Since 1970 MAC has been drawing cartoons for the Daily Mail newspaper. Not many people know that in most of his daily cartoons, Mac includes a small portrait of his wife hidden within the picture!
He loved the imagination and thought processes that went into producing such an enormous diversity of paintings from the many schools that entered. These ranged from `food’ related houses to spaceships and even a terraced castle! Thank you to all of the year 2’s that entered and you are all to be commended for making such a great effort.
We reduced the initial 100’s of many wonderful entries down to perhaps three or four top choices per school and then came up with a top one from each school before choosing our final three winners.
He went as far as to say that at “one of these day one or two of these children might become architect’s and build something similar to their design in London- how amazing would that be!”
